Hermantown Baseball

The final week of May arrives with Hermantown athletes spread across section tournaments, postseason pressure and one of the busiest stretches of the spring calendar. Golfers head to Giants Ridge. Track athletes chase state berths at Rock Ridge. Baseball and softball continue their section runs. And the lacrosse postseason begins under the lights at Centricity Stadium.

Here’s a look at the varsity week ahead for the Hawks:

Tuesday, May 26

The Hermantown girls golf team begins Section competition at Giants Ridge’s Quarry Course, one of the premier high school venues in Minnesota.

The Hawks softball team will face Rock Ridge in a Section 7AAA semifinal round at 3 p.m. at Braun Park in Cloquet.

Proctor-Hermantown will face host Duluth Marshall in a Section boys lacrosse match at 6 p.m.

Also at 6 p.m., Proctor/Hermantown hosts Spring Lake Park in a Section girls lacrosse play-in game at Centricity Stadium on Corey Veech Field.

Wednesday, May 27

The Hermantown boys golf team opens its Section tournament at Giants Ridge while both the boys and girls track and field teams compete in Section preliminaries at Rock Ridge High School beginning at 11 a.m.

Hermantown baseball also enters Section 7AAA postseason play with a 4:30 p.m. game against Rock Ridge at Fichtner Field at Centricity Park.

Thursday, May 28

Thursday could become championship day for multiple Hawks teams.

Both the girls and boys golf teams conclude Section competition at Giants Ridge while Hermantown softball competes in the Section finals.

Baseball continues Section 7AAA play at 4:30 p.m., against a yet-to-be-determined opponent and location.

Girls lacrosse faces perhaps the week’s biggest spotlight moment with a Section quarterfinal game against an opponent still to be determined.

Saturday, May 30

Hermantown baseball continues Section 7AAA play at noon while both the boys and girls track and field teams compete in the Section finals at Rock Ridge beginning at 1 p.m.
