COVID NOTICE/REQUIRED MASKING Site: Hermantown School District School-Wide Masking Date: January 11, 2022 Dear Parent/Guardian, Staff, Prior to Christmas break Hermantown had only one positive Covid case reported districtwide. Unfortunately, we have seen a significant increase in the last week. Hermantown students in grades 7-12 have reached the threshold of 5% or more of students and staff absent with COVID. Per the District’s masking guidelines, face coverings are now required for all students and staff during the school day, regardless of vaccination status, during the masking period. · Your student will need to wear a face covering in school for a minimum of 10 days, starting January 11, 2022, through January 20, 2022. · If grades 7-12 continue to reach the 5% threshold after January 20th, the 10 days of masking will continue from the last 5% reading. · Students ages 2 to grade 6 will continue to wear face coverings. The Minnesota Department of Health recommends that individuals monitor for symptoms associated with COVID-19. If your student/you develop symptoms associated with COVID-19 or test positive, please contact the school. Following the CDC guidelines Hermantown has adopted 5 day quarantine for staff. On Wednesday, January 12th the Minnesota Department of Health is coming out with guidance on how the 5 day quarantine applies to students. We plan to follow that guidance and will get details out as soon as we receive that information. Thank you for helping to keep our school community safe! Wayne Whitwam Hermantown Superintendent
